The Joint congress of the Non-Academic staff unions of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi which held today 8th January, 2018 at the New Engineering Auditorium, north core axis of the Institution has ended on a positive note as the striking  unions have resolved to allow some of her members offering essential services to the students in areas of electricity and water supply provide such services for the consumption of students of the institution.

This resolution became imperative owing to the negative effect of the sustained closure of the University owing to the strike after the yuletide break which poses a major threat to the instability of the academic calendar as well as adversely affecting the students who have been unable to return to campus like their contemporaries across the country in pursuance of their academics.

The leadership of the Unions and her members have thus extended their hand of fellowship in the best interest of the education of the Nigerian child and the University of Agriculture, Makurdi by allowing some of her members to attend to the aforementioned services on campus.

However all other staff members of the unions would continue with the strike action in line with the directive of the National Executive Council (NEC).

Students who keenly waited to hear the resolutions from Monday's JAC Congress are in euphoria over the results and remain hopeful that an announcement would be made by the University Administration as to when the Campus would be reopened in Ernest following this development.

Commending the resolution of JAC. many students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi have communicated with Campus gist 'paper to register their appreciation to the unions on what they term "a selfless consideration of the future of education in their institution".

The students are also hopeful that the Federal government of Nigeria will soon respond positively to their demands to enable a full suspension of the ongoing strike for normalcy to return to Nigerian Universities.
