More details emerges on the kidnap of hit fm managing director
The Hit fm managing director and former commissioner of information under the immediate past governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, was kidnapped at about 9.05pm in Ikot Ansa by five armed men who got to the area in a Toyota Camry car.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Irene Ugbo, said,
"We are aware of the incident.
"The case has been reported to us. We have dispatched our men and those from the Intelligence Department to hunt for the kidnappers and rescue the victim safely.’’
Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa also stated that the abductors have not made contact yet with the family and there has been no demand for ransome yet.
Details concerning the reasons behind his kidnap is very unclear although unconfirmed reports are linking his kidnap with the 2019 governorship race, as speculations are rife that some power brokers in the state are considering him as a possible candidate to challenge the incumbent, Ben Ayade.
