GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL NARROWLY ESCAPES DEATH

The governor of Akwa Ibom state
Emmanuel Udom on Friday, December 9, escaped death as a church building in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state collapsed.




The whole building of the church,
Reigners Bible Church, located along
Uyo Village road, collapsed.


An eye witness explained that the governor has gone to the scene and is presently there helping with the
rescue


Victims of the collapse were taken to
nearby hospitals and mortuaries in Uyo.
A witness also mentioned that  injured persons in the scene were already receiving medical attention.



Meanwhile, the emotional spokesperson of the police in the state said: “You need to be here to witness it, there is so much confusion.”


Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has confirmed he was inside Reigners Bible Church, when it collapsed on Saturday. Emmanuel and his deputy escaped death after
the building collapsed, during the ordination service of Bishop Akan Weeks.


An eye witness also said that the building collapsed 30 minutes after the Governor Emmanuel Udom, a special guest of honour at the event, arrived at the church.



Though the figure the number of casualties are yet to be released but eyewitnesses said they counted not
less than 50 bodies.

Some rescue team members said that over 60
casualties had been removed from the debris.

Reports has it that the Founder of the
church, Apostle Akan Weeks, was also
brought out unhurt.
