BENUE AND THE NEW MERGER PARTY PLOT
I may not be an expert in political analysis, however, my idea represents what a sensible impartial adult would think.
A statement in part, signed by Terver Akase, chief press secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom in respect to a new merger party plot read thus:
"We read a frontpage report in Wednesday 7, December, 2016 edition of This Day newspaper in which the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom was listed among fifteen other Governors who are involved in plans to form a new mega party.
We wish to categorically state that Governor Ortom is not part of such a plan. The Governor as the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was popularly elected by the people of Benue State and is still enjoying maximum support of the people as he continues to deliver good governance, so he couldn't have been involved in any clandestine plot to launch another political party."
Certain phrases could be highly debatable such as " standard flag bearer of the party". While I have nothing ill against his excellency as I voted for him and the entire change, I make bold to say that, his excellency is not a standard flag bearer as portrayed in this writeup. My reasons are simple, he was not a member of the party from the start and for the fact that he said certain irritating speeches such as " a party of agrieved people" while still a member the PDP, it is certainly not proper to name him as a Standard flag bearer of the party irrespective of his office.
Further more, Nigeria political instablility is a resultant of political party ideological bankruptcy cause by the merging of parties with divergent governance ideology but share a common interest in subplanting of power. Having said this, I'll briefly remark that PDP is a merger product, reference to history. ACN was a merger product, APC is a merger product. However, sound political party ideology is evidently zero or in significantly present.
It has been speculated that Akume is a godfather to Ortom, if such speculation is in any way potent with truth, then it follows that a son will work in the foot steps of the father. Akume was a member of a merger party PDP, left to another merger party ACN, and is currently in another merger party APC. Ortom on the other side of the equation, started from a merger PDP and is currently in another merger party. It is therefore a political propagada trying to think or thinking to try sure betting that Ortom is not in support of a new merger party plot.
Considering the fact that Akume favoured Atiku " the zege mule u tiv" for presidency and Atiku is yet a reason for the plot of a new merger party, invariably, Ortom is subtly in support of a new merger party. This will be necessary for his continuity and relevance in politics.
Hence one cannot guarantee people's trust in the APC any longer, it is wise that he support a new merger party which I know he does. However, solution to Nigeria political tussle lies in an organic homogenous party. Where do we go from here? When will our salvation come?

As it was with the case of human evolution, so be it with the political parties.
ReplyDeleteWho can we say are the members of the ruling party APC that were there from day one? They may leave it one day.

DeleteYou're right my brother, "My people perish because of lack of knowledge" so says the holy booK popula among Christians. Once again, I'll retirate that lack of anew organic homogenous political party with sound ideologies such as implemetation of true federalism and true secularism is the bed rock of the polItical crinkum crankum, higihaga rocking the nation.
