Reports reaching mynaijland.com early hours this morning that two boys heavily armed with gun and cutlasses stormed the engineering complex of Federal university of agriculture Makurdi (UAM) around 3am.
It was told that the robbers visited the two major classes where students read their books and collected laptops, phones and other gadgets.
They shot randomly to the air on arriving to scare those in the class to push the submitting to whatever they demanded.
One of the victims, a 500l mechanical engineering student said his laptop was seized and he confirmed that those boys were armed and ready for business.
Another named Chibueze expressed his gratitude to God for not harmed by the robbers. He said:
"On hearing the gun sound in other class, I woke up from my sleep because i was actually sleep that time. I was also charging my phone so i quickly rushed to unplug it and put it in my bag and looking out for what was happening. Before I could know it, there came in through the front door. I tried to rush out through the back door but unfortunately it was locked so I was left with no option than to surrender and laid down. The guys collected phones and laptops from others but thank God they did not touch me or try to hit me for trying to escape"Charles who was tired and was sleeping said he heard the shot and quickly put his system to bag and kept it under the table but they made away with his power pack as that one was on the table. He said
"If they had taken this laptop, that would make the second laptop they would rob me of this semester"Many students express their anger that security has ever been the problem of federal university of agriculture Makurdi.
"How can a whole Federal school, a University for that matter not gave a standing and working security man and good patrol team. This kind of thing will continue to go on if there are no measures to stop it. Well, it really seems the University management doesn't care about the safety of the student. yes, its clear. And that is why we keep on seeing these by the day. There are several policemen in Makurdi, sending a patrol of 20men wont be a big deal. Government should look into that quickly instead of making noise"Lamented a student.
This will always happen really. This school is really rubbish in security issues. Thank God we will soon graduate
