In an interview with BBC Hausa language service, the first lady was
quoted saying, “Her husband’s government has
been hijacked by only a
few people who were behind presidential appointments,
the president
didn’t know 45 out of 50 of the officials he had appointed”. She threatened
that she might not back her husband at the next election unless he get a
firm
grip on his government.
Today,
President Muhammadu Buhari responded to the allegations
made by his wife. Standing
next to German chancellor Angela Merkels,
president Buhari told reporters, I don’t
know which party my wife belongs
to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my
living room with the other room.
There was
obvious shock in the eyes of Angela Merkel. His statement have
been heavily criticized
on social media. Many are of the view that he is
encouraging the downgrading of
the female child particularly after saying
his wife belongs to the kitchen.
