At about 8:30pm, some unknown gunmen numbering about killed a university lecturer, Dr Ebeng, a lecturer in accounting department, university of calabar.
According to a witness, he was shot at his gate at No 1 Asuquo Abasi street by Uwanse lane. The report also has it that a passer by who tried to hinder the hoodlums was also shot dead.
It was reported that the unknown gunmen came with a red Toyota Camry and shot the lecturer twice on his neck as he was opening his gate to drive into his compound.
This comes shortly after a lecturer was kidnapped from the staff quarters and a student was killed as well days after convocation.
The lecturer who was shot dead was recently awarded a doctorate degree while the lecturer who was kidnapped was just made a proffesor.
It is still relatively unclear if this attack is linked to a power tussle but we will bring you more news as it comes.
