FIRST SET OF BENUE OVERSEAS TRAINEES IN AGRICULTURE RETURNS (SEE PHOTOS)
The first set of Benue indigenes sponsored by the Ortom administration to undertake training in livestock production in Dublin, Ireland have successfully completed the programme and returned to the state.
While in Ireland for the programme which lasted for two weeks, the ten trainees were exposed to modern methods of livestock management and production including insemination of animals and were issued certificates at the end of the training.
Addressing them at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi earlier today, Governor Samuel Ortom said the sponsorship of the youths to go for the training was part of his administration's focus on agriculture.
Governor Ortom charged the beneficiaries of the programme to put the knowledge they acquired to good use to justify the government's resolve to sponsor more youths for similar programmers.
He noted that the livestock industry in particular holds the potential of improving the economy of the state if well harnessed, assuring them of government's continued support.
Earlier, leader of the group, Dr. Oryiman Nezan thanked the Governor immensely for the opportunity which he said had exposed them to modern ways of animal production during the training.
Dr. Nezan gave assurance that they were ready to put to use the knowledge gained for the benefit of the state. See photos:
