REJUVENATED SUPER EAGLES WINS AT ZAMBIA

First half goals from Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Ihenacho saw Nigeria kick
start their world cup qualifying round in fine form. Nigeria went a goal up
after 32 minutes when Arsenal’s young star Alex Iwobi powered a volley
past the Zambian goalkeeper Kemedy Mweene. Karl Ikeme then had to pull
a superb save to stop Ramford Kalaba’s effort to keep Nigeria in the lead.
That moment was decisive as three minutes later Kelechi Ihenacho
doubled the visitor’s advantage finishing off a fine move. Mikel came close
to adding a third but Mweene tipped it over the crossbar. Mbesuna gave
Zambia a late consolation but Nigeria held on to get the victory.
